Criteria for Awarding ULI’s Global Award for Excellence
New York resident Kenneth “Ken” Hart is the co-founder of Veracity Partners, a full-service real estate development firm focused on commercial and residential projects in New York. In May 2019, Empire Stores, a renovation project spearheaded by Veracity Partners and managed by Kenneth Hart received the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Global Award for Excellence.

ULI’s Award for Excellence is given to deserving development projects in the private, public, or nonprofit sectors. The award recognizes construction projects that demonstrate high achievement standards, as adjudged by ULI’s jury of industry leaders, throughout the development process from start to finish.

Members of ULI’s jury are drawn from different areas of real estate including design, architecture, land planning and development, finance, and professional services. The diversity of the judging panel ensures nominated projects undergo comprehensive evaluation so that ultimately, winners are selected because of achievement in the scope of factors, not just architecture and planning. Some of these factors include projects’ marketplace acceptance, relevance to community needs, impact on the community, environmental sustainability, and excellence in design, planning, architecture, and management, among others. Since ULI launched the award in 1979, it has honored projects from around the world including office, residential, industrial, retail, heritage, and rehabilitation projects.
